Examining “Out There” vs. Examining “In Here”
Jesus’ mission was to reveal the character of the Father to a secular world. This character, of course, could not be discerned by secular minds unless they could both see that character in action and open their hearts to that revelation.
So Jesus came down to mankind’s physical reality. He spoke in their own language of God’s character in words of love, and He showed them God’s character in acts of love.
The minds of the secular world remained focused on secular matters. They could not let go of their education and understand His words. They enied what they saw in order to maintain their erroneous beliefs.
The spiritual issue of opening our hearts and minds to truth is no less significant in the secular world. Our modern medical paradigm of the problem of disease as being “out there” (bacteria, viru$, etc.) rather than “in here” (the body and mind) is the same error.
The bacteria are demonized and destroyed, even those in our microbiome that are vital to our health and existence.
The viru$e$ are demonized and destroyed, even those carrying the RNA vital for us to adapt to a changing world.
We wear a mask and social distance as if that is a solution to the problems of malnutrition (processed food, blood sugar issues, stress, etc.) and toxicity (polluted air, food, water, and thoughts).
As we destroy nature around us, we have the natural world sending out more distress signals, more instructions on how to adapt to an increasingly chemicalized and degraded environment.
We shoot the messenger rather than examine ourselves.
This is what was done to the prophets and to Jesus.
We refuse to unlearn error in order to see truth in the secular world every bit as much as in the spiritual world.
In the spirit of this season, may our hearts and minds be open to His leading.
