welcome to a perspective on natural health!
Linda Lea - In memoriam

Hippocrates said that all disease begins in the gut. And this is pretty close to 100% true, except for the diseases that begin in the heart and mind.
It is no secret that the wealthiest country in the world is also among the sickest by most measurements. Leading in medical expenditures, the U.S. still ranks poorly in terms of overall health. We cannot blame our culture.
We are our culture. And we are the source of the misguided agrarian policies, damaging food processing and handling, harmful additives,and....well, many other things. As Pogo so famously said, "We have met the enemy and he is us." Pogo tells us we have not been honest with ourselves but prefer self-deception.
The most critical element under our control is the thoughts that we allow to control us. We are told, "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he" (Prov. 23:7 NKJV). Do we control our thoughts, or do they control us? What do we believe about ourselves, the world around us, and the God who created us? Perhaps more than anything else, the answers to these questions are the keys to health.
When our thoughts are on those things that are true, noble, just, pure, and lovely, then we can proceed to the physical issues.
Here, the first question to be asked is "Are you at peace even in the storm?" The answer to that question may be your starting place for healing. You will not heal until you stop adding fuel to the fire, or in this case, the storm. This means getting help with assessing your current level of stress and defining what must be done to start your healing.
Yes, health does have a very large physical component in addition to the spiritual/emotional/intellectual contribution. Three additional elements are imortant:
- If we do not have the proper nutrition, or lack the digestive integrity to utilize what we consume, our health is undermined.
- If we are overwhelmed by toxicity in our food, water, and air, our health is compromised.
- If we suffer the trauma of physical, emotional, or spiritual damage, we must heal.
Why do you spend money for what is not bread,
And your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,
And let your soul delight itself in abundance.
Isaiah 55:2 NKJV
- Where do we put our emphasis?
- On what do we spend our energy and money?
- What is truly important to us in this life?

What you believe in your conscious and subconscious minds will determine your answers to these questions. Our behaviors are a result of what we believe about ourselves.
